There are more than enough spaces for all the good things that people can imagine. Here in Western North Carolina real estate continues to be developed for profit. When organizers and activists choose for-profit venues the resources continue to forward the mission of profit. What if we can cut the profit out and create a collective space that supports the things we value as neighbors and community? What if we pool our resources, create the spaces we need, use them together and care for them together?
What if we share? Share space? Share responsibilities? Share a common vision of a world where the common good is our goal? What if together we make possible a more just and generous space, founded on principles of just economics and committed to generous living where sharing by all means scarcity for no one? What is Land of the Sky UCC?
15 Overbrook is a project of Land of the Sky United Church of Christ. We are an emerging, progressive community seeking to serve the still-speaking God by living justly, loving abundantly, and walking humbly in the ways of Jesus. We hope to cultivate space for greater justice, compassion, and mercy.
